"The Philosophy of Tea is not mere aestheticism ... for it expresses conjointly with ethics and religion our whole point of view about man and nature. It is hygiene, for it enforces cleanliness; it is economics, for it shows comfort in simplicity rather than in the complex and costly; it is moral geometry, inasmuch as it defines our sense of proportion to the universe." - Kakuzo Okakura

I wanted something nice for my partner and I to be able to brew tea without having to microwave our mugs or boil water in a saucepan. This set was lovely, & while the teapot itself was a bit small, it was a good size for just us two & retained heat well. I was in love with the dark glaze, painted bamboo, & simplistic design.

However, I am a beginner with teapots such as this, and I heated it directly over the stovetop as I missed the warnings they gave in the description and on the bottom of the pot. My only other experience with ceramicware is what I've used multiple times to bake, which handled heat fine. I contacted Shizen and we were able to work something out together for my mistake. I will definitely be buying from ShizenCha again due to their genuine kindness and patience, along with their lovely craftmanship.
