For 35 years now, Irie san has invested his time and energy in growing 100% chemical and pesticide-free green tea. Tucked in the forest at nearly 600 meters above sea level in the Yame mountains, the tea leaves used by Irie san benefit directly from healthy and naturally enriched soil.

The most renowned plantations in Fukuoka prefecture are located in Yame area. Morning mists and river fogs are very frequent. Curtains of fog wrap green tea plantations, properly blocking sunlight. This helps in generating more amino acids (including theanine, glutamic acid, arginine, etc.) within the tea leaves. In addition, Yame enjoys an inland climate-high temperature during daytime and very cool and low temperatures at night.

The nutrients, minerals, and vitamins absorbed by the trees end up in the leaves, and so, eventually, in your cup, helping your body to remain strong and healthy. “Jun” is one of the few organic teas from the Yame area. The quality of this Sencha is exceptional. It yields a strong and refreshing taste, either in hot and cold brew.

Easy to brew, the Umami of this tea is very present, and the balance between bitterness and sweetness is exceptional. This tea is definitely one of our favorite and probably the best one to discover and enjoy Japanese green tea. Made in very small quantities by a farmer who relies on the sole power of nature, it is an exceptional and rare tea that even our clients in Japan are surprised to discover. Irie san’s tea has passed the most stringent tests, including those set up in Germany, making it a perfectly safe and healthy beverage to enjoy.

Nakao Village in Higashi Sonogi is a rural tea-farming community. The land of Nakao Village is located in a belt of hills that were created by volcanic activity long ago. It is at an elevation of around 250 meters. The valley in which the villagers reside was cut into this rock by the Sonogi River. The foothills of the mountains are often shrouded in fog, with warm afternoons and cool nights, which is perfect for growing tea.

Because of its origin, this tea benefits from the very specific taste of Higashi Sonogi tea, which sets it apart from other shiraore you will usually find in the market. This tea is absolutely perfect for cold brew, it has an unmistakable citrus taste that will make it your preferred summer drink.

Houjicha is a Japanese green tea handpicked from the Uji district in Kyoto, Japan. Houjicha is distinctive from other Japanese green teas because it is roasted in a porcelain pot over charcoal, whereas most Japanese teas are steamed.

The tea is fired at a high temperature, altering the leaf color tints from green to reddish-brown. The roasting process also lowers the amount of caffeine in the tea. The roasting flavors are extracted and result in a toasty, slightly caramel-like flavor.

Uji is located south of Kyoto City, famous for Byodoin Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Uji is a green tea and matcha lover's paradise.
